Glenn wanted to hear stories of the acts of kindness experienced on 8/28

The heat got to me, and all the way back to our Ohio-bound buses there were kindly people who were not going to leave me behind.
I knew I was in trouble by noon, but didn't want my friends to miss anything of the Restoring Honor rally so I tried to help myself by going up into the shade under the trees. We left at 1 p.m. and I had to tell my friend, Norene - a good six years older than me, by the way - that I wasn't feeling well. She walked along, at my slow pace, pushing me toward the Smithsonian Metro station. My hips didn't get stiff and sore until noonish, too, and even with my cane they were slowing me down, as well.
We had a deadline - be at the buses by 5 p.m. - so we had to push me forward or we might miss the bus home. By Raoul Wallenberg Street I was starting to feel really weak, in awful pain, but I really was done in when we got close enough to see the Metro sign off to the left. By then I was feeling nauseous. Norene went way out to the end of the line while I waited, leaning on my folded chair sack.
All along the way people offered me a spot in line (to let me "jump" the line) but I explained I was waiting for my friend to "pick me up." Unfortunately, though, by the time she got to me I was near finished and wanted to lay down on the grass. A lady offered to keep moving but hold our spot as long as she could; Norene pulled out her chair and umbrella and they left me to sit a few minutes while the throng moved around me.
I saw the police car and thought maybe I should ask someone to get help but Norene came back for me and together we slowly made our way down into the subway system. Down there was the offer of a lawn chair and an ice water bag. I know by now I'm going to make it. My lawn chair and I were moved along the train platform and eventually onto the Orange line train.
I wish I could count the number of good Samaritans who wouldn't leave me behind, and Norene never hesitated to help me or ask for help with me.
I'll travel with her anytime, and to any Restoring Honor rally that Glenn Beck holds.
God Bless Americans!
